Submission options, Guidelines to authors, Conference proceedings

The CIB Commissions (W099) Safety, Health, and Wellbeing in Construction and (W123) People in Construction are pleased to partner with Hanoi University of Civil Engineering and the University of Wolverhampton in organizing a joint international conference (hereinafter referred to as the CIB W099/W123 & ICONS 2026), to present cutting-edge research and innovation aimed at achieving human-centric sustainability within the global built environment. This focus prioritizes the construction workforce and seeks to advance the industry's performance and image through improved worker well-being and quality of life, promote the adoption of advanced engineering technologies to foster resilient management systems, comprehensive safety cultures, and equitable, healthier workplaces worldwide.

CIB W099/W123 & ICONS 2026 invites original research contributions from professionals from industries, academic institutions, government agencies, research scholars and students from across the world. The paper should be original research and should not have been published in any journals or conference proceedings.

Conference tracks: The main topics of the conference include, but are not limited to:

CIB W099 Track 1: Digital Innovation and Technologies for safety, health and wellbeing
CIB W099 Track 2: Management Systems, Culture and Organizational Resilience for improved worker safety, health and wellbeing
CIB W123 Track 3: Improving the Lives of People in Construction
CIB W123 Track 4: Construction Work as Decent Work: Improving education, training, gender equality and equity in the workforce
ICONS Track 1: Advance Construction, Sustainable Materials, and Human Performance                                                    ICONS Track 2: Smart and Creative Cities for Human Health and Resilience

All the submitted papers will be double-blind reviewed by the Scientific Committee, and the Authors will be notified of the outcome of the review process for further improvements in the manuscript.

Publications

Papers accepted by the scientific committee will be published in the Journal of Science and Technology in Civil Engineering (JSTCE) under Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE). The websites for publication in English under ISSN 1859-2996.

The organising committee is in continual discussion for possible Special Issues with Scopus-indexed journals should the authors request. We will keep you posted about the process. In the meantime, please do check the Conference website regularly for the latest updates. 

Guidelines to authors

Regular abstracts should be 300 words maximum. Abstracts and full papers should be prepared using the template available here. The deadline for regular abstracts and full papers submission is given here.

Upon acceptance, the CIB W099/W123 & ICONS 2026 copyright form should be also provided by authors.

Authors who have received notification that their abstract has been accepted must submit their full article in their personal space (by logging to the website) by completing their initial submission, which can be found in My Space > My Submissions.

Notes to authors:

  • One person can be an author or a co-author in maximum four papers, and a paper can have maximum five authors/co-authors. Full paper should be in 10 pages, including references and appendix.
  • The full paper must follow the provided template, any variation may lead to a rejection of the paper. Please write your text in standard scientific English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these).
  • Authors should double check the originality of your text with plagiarism check before submitting full paper to CIB W099/W123 & ICONS 2026 conference. Such website as https://1text.com or Turnitin and iThenticate tools could be helpful.
  • The submission for Special Issues of Scopus-indexed journals is optional. Should the authors request this option, we will contact the authors with instructions to submit an upgraded version of the paper, this version may be subjected to further review if the journals require.

Presentation guidelines

The author(s) is expected to present at the event in-person and deliver a 15-minute presentation (with Q&A).

Poster presentation is optional. The layout of posters is free, no poster template is imposed by the conference organisers.

Please prepare an A0 poster and bring the hard copy with you (if you print by yourself) or we will support for printing (display must be completed before May 15, 2026). The printing fee is covered by the author(s).
